Baking a huge four layer chocolate raspberry cake for my first post was so fun and exciting! It has chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, homemade raspberry cake filling, and fresh raspberries. I really enjoyed making this cake because of the various elements and decorating processes!
About the Cake
The experience of baking this cake and brainstorming ways for the different elements in the cake to compliment each other was definitely worth it because the satisfaction of having a massive cake of your own creation right in front of you is the best. A twist that I put on this cake was replacing one of the layers of fresh raspberries with homemade raspberry cake filling, and it was so good! The rich chocolate with the fresh raspberries is, in my opinion, a perfect combination. This cake is one of my favorite desserts I have ever made, and I wasn't able to stop craving for another slice!
Assembling the Cake
I used two 8-inch pans to bake the cake and then cut each of the layers in half in order to have four layers of cake. The order of the layers of my cake is the following: chocolate mousse and sliced fresh raspberries, chocolate mousse and raspberry cake filling, and finally, another layer of chocolate mousse and raspberries. Lastly, I covered the whole cake with chocolate buttercream frosting.
