Pane Bianco

Updated: Jun 26, 2022

One of my favorite cuisines is Italian, and I love the combination of bread, cheese, and herbs. Pane Bianco is the perfect representation of that! During the summer, I enjoyed finding new things to bake every week, so I always looked forward to baking things from different cultures/countries! I got the inspiration to make Pane Bianco after watching the contestants on The Great British Baking Show make tear and share loaves during bread week because I loved the way they left the filling exposed and made it look like a centerpiece!

About Pane Bianco

Pane Bianco is an Italian bread that is filled with basil, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and cheese. It is really rich, soft, and flavorful. The basil and the sun-dried tomatoes are the main flavors in the bread, which makes it a great side dish for pasta or even soup!

I learned how to cut and mince vegetables properly for the first time while making the filling, and I had a lot of fun with that new experience! I also made my own "sun-dried tomatoes" by slicing the tomatoes into small chunks, roasting them in the oven, and finally, adding some Italian seasoning and drizzling them with olive oil. I felt like a true chef!

I really enjoyed making this bread and seeing how much it rose after it was done proving! The method of cutting the bread and twisting/shaping it was completely new to me, and I loved how dramatic it looked after it was baked! I think filled bread is definitely the best statement for a dinner table. :)
